How we saved a shipment from theft

Thanks to our intervention, the shipment never fell into the fraudsters’ hands and was delivered within 12 hours. The manufacturer avoided huge financial losses, as well as a multi-day stoppage that would have resulted from having to rebuild the delivery.

Working with a reliable carrier saves time, money and a huge amount of stress. When a long chain of intermediaries fails, and a freight forwarder stalls and protects only its own image rather than the goods in transit, direct operational action and a carrier’s professional backing are the ultimate guarantee of security.
One manufacturer booked transport with its regular freight forwarder. Unfortunately, due to a lack of basic verification procedures (accepting a spoofed email domain), the forwarder handed the shipment to a fraudster. The thief used an advanced scheme: he hacked into the forwarder’s account on a freight exchange, while simultaneously impersonating our fleet by giving the forwarder our registration numbers. There was one goal – to redirect the goods to a fake unloading address, straight into the thieves’ hands.

Securing the loading site.
As planned, we positioned our vehicle. We cross-checked the fraudster’s fake delivery address against the shipper’s real documents and physically blocked the attempt to defraud the shipment.

Legal and investigative support.
We blocked the fraudster on the TIMOCOM platform and brought in PFNÜR Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft, the German law firm that represents us permanently, along with a private investigator. We secured the evidence and alerted law enforcement in Germany.

Clash with the freight forwarder.
When we informed the freight forwarder of their mistake, they started obstructing our efforts. They tried at all costs to conceal the situation from the manufacturer. That lack of transparency raised our suspicions that the forwarder was connected to the fraudsters.

Direct contact with the manufacturer.
Seeing the forwarder stalling, we bypassed the intermediary and our lawyer contacted the goods’ owner directly. A factual conversation resolved the problem immediately, cut off the forwarder’s baseless accusations, and allowed us to establish a safe delivery address.

What's the procedure for requesting urgent transport?
You can submit a request via Transporeon (the Best Carrier module), WhatsApp, email or phone. After submitting it, you receive confirmation, vehicle details and driver details within minutes.
What area do you operate in?
We focus on the Ruhr area and the whole of NRW, and we also cover Belgium and the Netherlands. Our fleet density in this area lets us keep response times to a minimum and stay close to key production plants.
What loads can you transport in emergency mode?

Can you take over transport from another carrier if there are delivery problems?
Yes, if your current carrier lets you down, we position a replacement vehicle as fast as possible. We just need information about the loading location, the type of goods and the destination delivery address.
How is the shipment monitored, and do you provide live delivery status updates?
Every shipment is monitored by real-time GPS. We integrate via API with Transporeon, Shippeo and Project44. Loading statuses, up-to-date ETA and unloading confirmation are sent automatically to your system, by email or SMS. Your dispatcher sees the vehicle live, with no need to call for an update.
